Soul-R&B singer James Whitney returns to the music scene with his first self produced album. Los Angeles, California, May 15th 2007. James Whitney, Soul and R&B singer, formerly of the Whitney Family and the 7 Souls and lead singer of his own review in Europe, has returned to the American music scene with an offering that features ten of his own best love songs. Whitney (a contemporary of Marvin Gaye, Stevie wonder, and Al Green, and inspired in youth by Blues singer Bobby Blue Bland) has put his masterful writing skills to use in penning a host of highly danceable, infectious love songs to answer the demand for a musical experience that puts Love back in the music. Russ Regan, Past President of Motown and MCA Records and discoverer of Elton John, Berry White, The Beach Boys, Olivia Newton John and many other top acts, (and one of the few people Whitney has allowed to preview his effort) has said "I LOVE this album!" "James's mixture of romance and dance, fills the void." DJ Joe Williams, recently of Radio Station KRLA. "Its "old school" but it's cool I hear the fan base for it." Pudd, Executive at Interscope Records. "Can
you feel it?" is never a question that gets asked when you're talking
about a James Whitney song. You are going to feel it alright
in
every song. And this album has ten of them!" Tony Newton,
Musician Extraordinaire. |

Album
CD Music Review, "Let's Fall In Love" Artist - James Whitney
|
| Two
years ago, before the Hip Hop community and slipping record sales decided
Hip Hop was dead or dying, I would have passed on the opportunity of reviewing
this album simply because I thought the buying public had turned its collective
back on romance, dance and love songs, at least of the type I grew up
on. So it's with feelings of bitter sweet nostalgia and revenge that I
approach his work, which harkens back to the day when music was something
that made you want to dance and its lyrics something you could whisper
into your dates ear as you slowly turned on the dance floor, your bodies
pressed together in a "dry run" for what you hoped would be
a repeat of this experience later that night, sans clothes.
Back in those days, even the shyest among us got to say things out loud, by singing along with the record, that we could never utter on our own things like "You're once, twice, three times and lady and I love you" and three minutes later you would be bouncing across the dance floor together and singing out loud to lyrics like "He don't love you like I love you He's just trying to break your heart". Well, now everybody is saying what everybody knows Its time to let old school and love back into our lives. And here, doing that better than most and as good as the best, is James Whitney. Based on the quality of the ten songs on the album, any one of them could have been the title track, but appropriate to the album's theme, the title track is Let's Fall In Love. The album's offerings span the range from straight up R&B (Goodness Knows, What Are You Going To Do About Me Tonight, It's Your Time On The Dance Floor) through unabated love (Lets Fall In Love, Your Love Is Everything, Bitten By The Love Bug, Play That Song For Me, I've Got Somebody) to thought provoking. (Its Time To Save The World, Mystic Flight) Let's take a look at them one at a time. 1. Goodness
Knows When It's Right: 2. Play
That Song: 3. Lets
Fall In Love: 4. Bitten
by the Love Bug: 5. Mystic
Flight: 6. Whatchu
Gonna Do About Me Tonight: 7. It's
Your Time On The Dance Floor: 8. I Got
Somebody: 9. Your
Love Is Everything: 10. It's
